Our songs / Poppy Peep

Poppy Peep

The hedgehog who never goes to sleep — a gentle bedtime song about rest.

About this song

Poppy Peep is the story of our little hedgehog who stays up every night singing "pada pada, pada pada pada" — and wakes up with tired arms, tired legs and tired eyes. Then one night, Poppy sleeps all the way through, wakes up feeling bright, and everything is happy again. Yippee!

It is the closest thing in our catalogue to a lullaby with a lesson: sleep makes everything better. Parents use it as a bedtime wind-down; the tired-then-happy body-parts pattern is easy for even the smallest children to follow.

What it teaches: The value of sleep, body parts, feelings, bedtime routine.

Poppy Peep — Lyrics

Verse 1

My name is Poppy Peep
I never go to sleep
I stay up every night
Singing pada pada, pada pada pada

Chorus

I wake up tired
My arms are tired
My legs are tired
My eyes are tired

Verse 2

While everyone is sleeping
I keep on squeaking
All night I sing
Pada pada, pada pada pada

Chorus

I wake up tired
My arms are tired
My legs are tired
My eyes are tired

Verse 3

One day I slept all night
I woke up feeling bright
No more singing
Pada pada, pada pada pada

Final chorus

Now my arms are happy
My legs are happy
My eyes are happy
Yippee yippee, yippee yippee yippee!
