What Do You Do?
Mud, stones and puddles — a call-and-response song about looking after your shoes.
About this song
What Do You Do? follows Lilly on a walk through the garden. She steps in mud, gets a stone in her shoe, and finds a big puddle — and each time the friends ask: what do you do? Children love shouting the wrong answer away ("Keep on walking? Nooo!") before singing the simple, practical fix.
It is a self-care song in disguise: wipe off the mud, shake out the stone, and put your wellies on before you splash. The finale has all four friends splashing together in their colourful wellington boots.
What it teaches: Practical self-care, problem-solving, call-and-response.
What Do You Do? — Lyrics
Walking in the garden, what a lovely day!
Uh-oh… wait… what's in the way?
What do you do
When you've got mud on your shoes?
Keep on walking? Nooo!
Take your shoes off
And scrub off all the mud!
Yes!
What do you do
When a stone gets in your shoes?
Keep on walking? Nooo!
Take your shoes off
And shake out all the stones!
Yes!
What do you do
When water gets in your shoes?
Keep on walking? Nooo!
Get your wellies on
And splash, splash, splash!
Yaaay!
